Whitefish Baseball Drops Season Opener to Pesky Bigfork Squad

    The Whitefish High School Baseball Team opened their season on Friday with a Conference Clash at Bigfork.

    While this was the first game of the season for Whitefish, Bigfork already has a win against C-Falls, under their belts.

    That game action played dividends for the Vikings who took Friday's contest by a final of 9-3.

    The Vikings scored 6 first inning runs and built a 6-1 lead after one inning of play.

    Mason Lewis go the start for Bigfork and went 4.2 innings pitched. He game up 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 4.

    Lewis would open the scoring in the bottom of the 1st with a 2-run single.

    Bigfork never trailed after that. The Vikings tacked on 1 more in the 4th and scored 2 in the 6th.

    Whitefish got on the board in the opening inning with a Fynn Ryan RBI Groundout.

    Drew Queen added and RBI Single for the Dawgs in the 2nd and Whitefish added a run on a past ball in the 5th.

    Tait Orme would take to the mound in relief of Logan Stewart who saw just 5 batters.

    Orme went 4 innings, game up 3 runs on 5 hits and struck out 9.

    Orme was also 3-4 at the plate with a Run scored.

    Each team tallied 7 hits in the contest but Bigfork notched 12 walks.

    With the win, Bigfork opens the season 2-0, both wins being in conference.

    Whitefish starts off 0-1.

    Up Next: The Dawgs are back in action, Tuesday, playing host to rival Columbia Falls. That games is scheduled for a 4pm first pitch.
