The Whitefish and Columbia Falls High School Baseball teams will play host to the 3rd Annual Sapa-Johnsrud Invite, May 17th and 18th. Games will be played at Smith Fields in Whitefish and Sapa-Johnsrud Field in Columbia Falls.
The Sapa-Johnsrud Invite is a historic tournament that is played every year in memory of Ray Johnsrud and Jim Sapa. This is the 3rd year that the High School's have co-hosted the event.
The Glacier Twins started the event following the tragic 1984 car-train accident in Columbia Falls that killed Jim Sapa and Ray Johnsrud. To honor their memory and their love for baseball, the Twins held the first Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament the following year.
According to Whitefish High School Activities Director Aric Harris "We have adjusted the schedule due to some teams' needs and request. Remind fans that admission will be $10 for adults and $8 for students/seniors at each location."
