On Wednesday, Whitefish High School's Cash McKay officially signed with Northwest Nazarene in Idaho to continue his athletic and academic career.

McKay is heading to Northwest Nazarene to play Lacrosse.

McKay has been a member of Northwest Avalanche Lacrosse Club for the last couple of years.

McKay officially committed to Northwest Nazarene on September 18th: "I am excited to announce that I’ve committed to Northwest Nazarene University to continue my athletic and academic career. I want to thank my parents for always believing in me and helping make this dream a reality. I would also like to thank my coach Dom for coaching me into the player I am today. Go Hawks."

I had the pleasure of catching up with McKay to talk about the decision, why Nortwest Nazarene and more:

The Northwest Nazarene men’s lacrosse program started as a club team.

The club began scheduling in 2021.

A major development: NNU men’s lacrosse is being elevated to NCAA Division II, starting in the 2025–26 academic year.

This makes them the first and only NCAA lacrosse program in Idaho.

Since NNU’s main conference (GNAC) doesn’t currently sponsor men’s lacrosse, the Nighthawks will join the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) as an associate member for lacrosse.
