The Whitefish Bulldog Football team traveled down to Hamilton, Friday night, for a playoff preview against the Hamilton Broncs.
This was a game that will be remembered for years to come.
An instant classic all the way.
Luke Dalen totaled 4 touchdowns, and the Dawgs blocked the game-tying PAT to secure a huge 29-28 road win.
From start to finish, this one had everything you could ask for in a high school football game.
Whitefish scored the first 13 points of the game in the first 4 mintues and lead 13-0 early on.
The Dawgs used big plays for their first two scores. Whitefish broke out the Philly Special to open their first drive. Vlad Shestak off the reverse found Dalen for a 71 yard completion to open things up. Dalen punched it into the endzone 2 plays later.
After a fumble recovery Dalen found Vlad Shestak on 3rd and 15 for 33 yards to put the Dawgs up two scores.
The game would remain that score until late in the half when Hamilton's Cooper Weston took it in from 4 yards out. The Broncs completed the 2 point conversion to make it 13-8.
Whitefish would stop the Broncs with zero's on the clock to end the first half and Whitefish went into the lockerroom 13-8.
Both offenses would break out in the 2nd half with Hamilton taking their first lead of the game, 15-13, following a Jude Widmer TD run.
The Dawgs punched right back as Dalen found Shestak for their 2nd TD together and Whitefish completed the 2 point conversion to go back up 21-15.
Hamilton scored again to make it 22-21. But Dalen and the offense had an answer. A big third down conversion, some tough runs by Dalen and a perfectly executed bootleg pass to Keenan Curtis gave the Dawgs a 29-22 lead.
Hamilton would get the ball back with 3 minutes to go and marched it down the field and took it in with seconds left to make it 29-28.
The Broncs appeared to score on the go ahead 2 point conversion but a penalty kept them out.
The very next PAT attempt was blocked and the Dawgs hung on for the 1 point victory.
With the win, Whitefish improves to 2-0 on the season.
