The Whitefish Bulldog Baseball team was back in action, Tuesday afternoon, as they made the trek around Flathead Lake to visit the Polson Pirates.
This was the 3rd time in 4 games that Whitefish was matched-up with a conference opponent, to start the season.
The Bulldogs, behind Tait Orme's 5 Innings played solid defense, had timely hitting and came away with a big 6-1 victory.
Orme allowed just 3 hits, walked 1 and struck out 5 in his first start of the season.
After a scoreless first two innings, the Dawgs got the party going in the 3rd.
With one out in the inning, Reyd Hobart would walk and steal a base. He stood on second and Drew Queen came to the plate.
Queen would hit a laser off the first basemen's glove scoring Hobart, to give the Dawgs an early 1-0 lead.
Whitefish would score two more in the 4th. Finn Ryan Walked and then Reed Boyeer Doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd.
A wild pitch would score Ryan and then Carter Godsey grounded into a Fielder's Choice RBI to score Boyer.
The Dawgs would lead 3-0 after 4.
Whitefish tacked on 3 more in the 6th for good measure. Polson added 1 in the 6th but Cullen Wallace shut down the Pirates in relief.
Queen, Godsey and Hobart all picked up RBI's in the contest. Whitefish worked 9 walks in the game and had 6 stolen bases.
With the win, Whitefish improves to 3-1 overall, 2-1 in conference play.
Polson falls to 2-4 overall, 2-3 in league play.
Up Next: The Dawgs are scheduled to host Noxon, on Thursday, weather pending, at 4pm. Thursday would be Whitefish's Home Opener.
That game is scheduled to air on Outlaw Country.
