Glacier Outduels Whitefish in 1st Ever Baseball Meeting

    Saturday was the home opener for the Whitefish Bulldogs as they played host to the Glacier Wolfpack.

    This was a game that had it all, from defense to timeley hitting, solid pitching and even a few errors.

    The Wolfpack used a two run 7th to pull away late and down Whitefish 5-3 for the non-confernce win.

    Logan Stewart got the start for the Dawgs and looked like his old self. He tossed 4 innings of 1 hit ball, gave up 2 runs and struck out 2.

    Reed Boyer pitched well in relief going 2 innings. Gave up 1 run on 1 hit.

    Whitefish got on the board first with a Fielder's Choice RBI by Reed Boyer, scoring Tait Orme, in the bottom of the 1st.

    Glacier tied up the game in the top of the third on a couple of errors.

    The Dawgs would ge the run back in the bottom of the inning. Orme connected on a deep line drive into left field, bringing home Luke Dalen for the 2-1 lead.

    Glacier used small ball to get a run back in the top of the 4th, bringing home a run on a sacrifice bunt.

    They got another in the 5th and led 3-2 heading into the 7th inning.

    With two outs in the top of the frame Max Weber hit a 2 RBI single to give the Wolfpack the 5-2 lead.

    Whitefish would plate one in the bottom of the 7th but Glacier held strong for the victory.

    Luke Dalen and Tait Orme each had extra base hits.

    With the win Whitefish falls to 3-2 overall on the season, remain 2-1 in conference play.

    Glacier improves to 6-1 on the season.

    Up Next: Whitefish will be in Missoula for the Showcase Tournament this weekend, taking on Frenchtown on Thursday and Belgrade on Friday. Those games will not be broadcast live on Outlaw Country.

    The Dawgs return to conference action, Tuesday the 28th with a double header at Noxon before returning home on the 30th the host Bigfork.

    The Bigfork game will be the next contest to be broadcast live on Outlaw Country.
