Whitefish Boys Basketball Sunk by Polson, Lady Dawgs Rebound

    Both Whitefish Basketball teams were back in action, Tuesday evening, as they took on Polson in a Northwest A Conference game.

    The boys played host to the Pirates while the girls hit the road for the first time in league play.

    In the boys game, Whitefish got out to an early 4-0 lead bu Polson took control late in the quarter, highlighted by a Malakai Curley Full Court Buzzer Beater to end the 1st. That heave set the pace for this one as Polson led 16-9 after the 1st. 

    Polson added to the lead outscoring the Dawgs 20-10 in the 2nd quarter and took a big 36-19 lead into the half.

    Whitefish would open the 3rd quarter strong cutting Polson's lead down to 9 early in the frame but the Pirates would never let it get closer than that.

    Polson regained momentum and led 57-36 after three and maintained that the final eight minutes, winning 78-59.

    Malakai Curley led the way for the Pirates with 32 points. He made six 3-pointers. Kyson Michel added a cool 26 for Polson.

    Whitefish was led by Will Sisson with 18. Jayke Thew and Leo Bungener added 9 each for the Dawgs.

    Following all the action Polson now jumps Whitefish in the conference standings sitting at 2-3 in league play, 5-6 overall. Polson now sits in 5th place in the conference.

    Whitefish falls to 5-6 overall, 1-4 in conference play.

    On the girls side, the Lady Dawgs hit the road for their first conference game away from home. Whitefish was out for redemption after the close loss against Bigfork.

    The Lady Dawgs got out to an early advantage, leading 20-14 after the 1st quarter.

    Whitefish held Polson to just 6 second quarter points as their lead ballooned to 40-20 at the half.

    That lead held strong through the the second half. At one point they led 53-30 and when it was all said and done the Lady Dawgs captured a big 62-40 victory.

    That win was a big one for the Lady Dawgs as they now sit at 2nd in the conference standings, jumping C-Falls. The Lady Cats lost to Ronan Tuesday night. 

    Whitefish is now 8-3 overall, 4-1 in conference play.

    Polson falls to 7-4 overall, 3-2 in league play and sit in 4th.

    The girls hit the road with the boys slated to play at home.
