The Whitefish Lady Bulldog Basketball team was in Great Falls, over the weekend, participating in the 2026 Class "A" State Tournament.
What a season it was for the Lady Dawgs.
This was the first State Appearance for the Whitefish Girls Basketball teams since 2021.
The Lady Dawgs would match-up with Havre (The eventual Champions) in the opening round.
The Lady Blue Ponies opened the game on an 8-0 run but Whitefish would find their groove later in the quarter. Resse Hudson made a pair of X-Seed Chiro 3's and the Lady Dawgs trailed by just 3, 14-11 at the end of the 1st.
Havre's defense picked up in the 2nd quarter as Whitefish would only score from the Free Throw Line. The Blue Ponies led at the half 24-13.
Havre would show off their Championship level play in the 3rd quarter, getting out in transition, battling on the glass and knocked down some open shots. Havre led 34-19 after three and went on to claim the 51-23 victory.
Avery Orme led Whitefish with 7.
Whitefish would then match-up with Laurel in loser out action, on Friday.
The Lady Locomotives came into the tournament as one of the hottest teams, winning 3 of their 5 final games to get in.
Laurel showed tenacious from the tip. The Lady Locomotives dropped in 16 first quarter points and built a 33-11 halftime lead.
Give it up for Whitefish who never backed down, never gave up and fought till the end.
The Lady Dawgs tried to claw back but the deficit was just to much to overcome Laurel, who shot lights out in the contest.
Whitefish trailed 50-26 after three and fell 59-35.
Avery Orme led the Lady Dawgs with 11.
A phenominal season has come to a close.
The Lady Dawgs finished the 2025-26 season with a 16-8 overall record.
They were the No. 2 Seed out of the Northwest "A", heading into the Divisional Tourney.
They took 3rd place at Divisionals and brought home hardware and earned the teams's best seed for State since 2008.
The future is bright for the Lady Dawgs who will return a core group of Freshman and Sophomores to lead the way.
