Whitefish Pitching Fans 11, Bulldog Baseball Defeats Ronan

The Whitefish Bulldog Baseball was back in action, Thursday, as they played host to Ronan for a conference match-up.

As the calendar turns to May the each game gets that much more important.

Thursday was a 60 degree, sunny day. Perfect conditions for baseball.

The Dawgs would come away with a solid 6-1 win to keep pace with C-Falls, Eureka and Bigfork at the top of the conference.

Logan Stewart took to the hill for his 4th start of the season. He tossed 4 innings, gave up 3 hits, 1 run (earned) walked 2 and struck out 7. Stewart picked up his 3rd win of the spring.

Whitefish got on the board in the 1st as Finn Ryan collected an RBI groundout, scoring Carter Godsey. Ryan Conklin would score a few pitches later on a wild pitch.

Ronan would score their first run of the game in the 4th, on a Damien Hess RBI Single. Following that, the Chiefs would load up the bases but Stewart would dig down and got out of the bases loaded jam. He struck out two before getting the third out on a groundout.

The bottom of the 4th was a big one for the Dawgs as they plated 4 runs. Whitefish took advantage of Ronan miscues in the frame. Following a Tait Orme RBI Double, Luke Dalen would bring home 2 as he reached on an error by Ronan's Shortstop, Hunter Luedtke.

Bear Barker would take over on the mound for the final three innings. The sophomore allowed 3 hits and struck out 4 to close the door.

Whitefish accumulated 8 walks in the game, at the plate and stole 7 bases. Whitefish had just 3 hits and 5 of their 6 runs scored were unearned.

With the win, the Dawgs pick up their 10th win of the season and are now 8-2 in conference play.

Up Next: The Dawgs host Plains-Hot Springs on Monday.

Next Friday and Saturday Whitefish will match-up with both Columbia Falls and Bigfork. Those games will air live on 1240AM & 102.7FM.
